Martha Parrish and James Reinish formed a partnership in 1993, having worked for other dealers cumulatively for more than 25 years. Martha Parrish retired from the gallery in 2008. Jim Reinish and the staff are private dealers who maintain a by-appointment gallery in a townhouse in Manhattan's Upper East Side. The gallery is one of few specializing in both American and European painting, sculpture, and works on paper between 1850 and the present day, with a primary focus on the period 1900-1980.
The gallery has established its greatest following in the area of late 19th and early 20th Century American painting and sculpture. |
Parrish & Reinish has placed significant works by artists such as Milton Avery, Thomas Hart Benton, Stuart Davis, Marsden Hartley, Elie Nadelman, Georgia O'Keeffe and John Singer Sargent in major American museums and private collections. A number of institutions have also chosen to deaccession important works through the gallery. While the Parrish & Reinish inventory is heavily American, one might also find works by the Barbizon, Impressionist or European Modernist painters and sculptors.
